I sold it although sales were good.

Why on earth?

Founded in 1926.

"Godiva" known as the Belgian luxury chocolate brand.

In Japan, there are about 300 stores in department stores and so on.

It is decided that this business in Japan will be sold to Asian investment fund "MBK Partners" by the middle of 2019.

Of the Godiva market in more than 100 countries in the world, the sale target is retail and distribution business in 4 markets such as Japan and Korea.

Total sold amount is over 1 billion dollars.

It is more than 110 billion yen in Japanese yen.

Godiva's sales in Japan increased on the upwards since 2010.

It is about 39.4 billion yen in 2017, tripled in seven years.

Why is it sold while the strong performance continues?

Keeping the key is the pocket of Turkish food giant Yurudzu Holding, which holds Godiva.

Experts point out the impact of the deterioration of relations with the Turkish government and the United States, the Trump regime.

Marketing consultant Nishikawa Ryujin said, "Turkey's currency lira has declined and the Turkish economy has become extremely strict following the deterioration of relations between Turkey and the US The Japanese Godiva business will be We also have the possibility of growing steadily, so we will sell it from good property to sell. "

Does Godiva's chocolate disappear from Japan as a result of this sale?

When asking Godiba Japan, President Jerome Shuchan said "Do not worry - we will make every effort to be a brand loved by customers."
